A Look At The First Cut of John Starks Life Story “Keep Shooting” Featured In A Film Student Workshop At The Orlando International Film Festival, May 25th

Published

on

NBA Legend John Starks, Dr. James Dentley CEO JD3TV, Leigh Simons, Starks Documentary Producer & President of JD3TV, will discuss the process of producing a sports documentary & John Starks Will Receive A Lifetime Achievement Award From OIFF.

JD3 Media will be sponsoring a look at the first cut of the documentary film called “Keep Shooting”- The John Starks Story – NY Knicks Basketball Star, a Leigh Simons production in association with the John Starks Foundation and sponsored by JD3TV at The Orlando International Film Festival on May 25, 2021,10am in the Enzian Theater.

This featured film is the story of the unlikely emergence of one of the greatest players in NY Knick history John Starks, who literally went from bagging groceries at a Safeway Grocery Store for the minimum wage to claw his way into the NBA as an undrafted rookie with minimal high school and college playing experience. The Dunk, John Starks game-changing, left-handed, soaring slam over Michael Jordan and Horace Grant in a 1993 playoff game against the Chicago Bulls is to this day one of the most memorable moments in NBA history.

In 1994 Game 6 of the NBA Finals, Starks scored 16 fourth-quarter points in an attempt to lead the Knicks to a come-from-behind victory over the Houston Rockets and deliver The Big Apple their first NBA championship in 23 years. Hakeem Olajuwon blocked his game-winning attempt with seconds to go; that’s how close Starks came to NBA and NY Knick immortality. In Game 7, he had the worst game of his career, shooting 2-18, and the Rockets won the championship.

Nevertheless, John Starks career was exemplary. An NBA 3-point shooting record, an NBA All-star, Starks bounced back after the 1994 playoffs to win the heralded Sixth Man of the year award, be named to the NBA second all-defensive team, and be forever etched in the minds of New York fans for his fiery personality, mental and physical toughness, and dominant perimeter shooting. Starks was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2011 and now works for The NY Knicks as an ambassador.

In “Keep Shooting,” decades later, Starks returns to the scene of the worst moment in his career, to the old home of the Houston Rockets, the summit, which is now Lakeview Church, and visits with Pastor Joel Osteen. They shoot hoops together on the same court as they discuss how the worst moment in his career served him to soar to even greater heights on the basketball court in the years that followed.

‘Keep Shooting” The John Starks Story features Pastor Joel Osteen and many legendary basketball greats such as Pat Riley, Patrick Ewing, Greg Anthony, the late Anthony Mason, Herb Williams, and Charles Oakley. With award-winning Sportscasters and journalists like Marv Albert, Mike Wise of The Washington Post, and Barbara Barker of Newsday.

Here is what John Starks says, “It’s crazy, but life is a lot like a game of basketball. You can be a fingertip away from having it all and lose it all in a heartbeat. But, when you are at your lowest point, that is when the most strength is needed. It is when the most important decisions are made. Should you hold back and be contented, or should you get up, dust yourself off, get the ball back in your hands, and keep shooting?”

Here is What Other People Are Saying About “Keep Shooting” John Starks Life Story

  • Joel Osteen says, “Sometimes what looks like a disappointment is really God preparing you for the next great thing he has in store for you. John’s story is not just about basketball and his career; it is also a story of resilience and perseverance; about never giving up on your dream, knowing that even in your darkest hour, God has you in the palm of his hand and the best is yet to come.”
  • Leigh Simons, producer www.leighsimons.com and president of JD3 Media, says, “To have the opportunity to screen a documentary film in progress in this student workshop and share the experience of our journey with aspiring filmmakers is both exciting and rewarding, and it exemplifies the philanthropic spirit of The Orlando International film festival, John Starks and JD3TV.”
  • Dr. James Dentley, CEO of JD3TV, says, “John Starks life and career exemplified the power of the human spirit. His story demonstrates that our dreams and goals are more than just attainable; they are awaiting those who are in the relentless pursuit of them. John teachers us to keep dreaming, keep fighting, and even when your shots are not falling, keep shooting!”
  • Dr. Florence Alexander, Florida Film Festival says, “John Starks life is a testament to all youth to be “better than your best,” the words of my mother.”

The Florida Film Festival May 24th – 28th, 2021, happening online and in Maitland and Winter Park, Florida, will screen 164 films representing 31 countries. Of the films selected, 151 have premiere status, including 23 world premieres. This year’s lineup includes 90 women or non-binary filmmakers–the most in their 30-year history and 55% of their total programming. Also, they have added a third live-action shorts program to the International Showcase for the first time, thereby giving their audience another terrific collection of films from abroad to experience.

The Festival, title sponsor JD3TV, will also screen the “THINK AND GROW RICH” Full Feature Film on May 27, 2021, at the Sheraton Orlando North Hotel, a film used in a study group by the famous motivational speaker, Les Brown, to focus on prosperity consciousness.

Nina Acosta, Founder & CEO of Transcend the Light-Transformational Life Coach & Energy Healer, Interviewed on Podcast Discussing Emotional Trigger Management

Published on August 16, 2022

Nina Acosta discusses how she helps her clients healthily manage their emotions.

Listen to the interview on the Business Innovators Radio Network:
https://businessinnovatorsradio.com/interview-with-nina-acosta-founder-ceo-of-transcend-the-light-discussingtransformational-life-coach-energy-healer-emotional-trigger-management/

  • What are emotional triggers? Emotional triggers are situations, people, places, or things that cause people to feel strong emotions. These triggers can be positive or negative but usually result in negative emotions like anger, sadness, fear, or anxiety.
  • Why do people have emotional triggers? Emotional triggers are often based on past experiences that have left a lasting impression. For example, if someone was bullied as a child, they may have developed an emotional trigger for feeling like they’re not good enough. Or, if they’ve experienced a traumatic event, they may have an emotional trigger for feeling scared or alone.
  • How can people manage their emotional triggers? The first step is to identify what emotional triggers are. Once they know what their triggers are, they can start to work on managing them. This may involve working with a therapist to address the underlying issues, developing coping mechanisms for when triggered, or avoiding situations that they know will trigger them.

Emotional trigger management is an essential part of self-care and emotional wellness. One can reduce the negative impact on our life by taking the time to understand triggers and how to manage them.

Nina explained, “When it comes to our emotions, we often think of them as something that happens to us. We feel happy, sad, or angry and don’t necessarily have any control over it. However, the truth is that our emotions are very much under our control. We can choose how to react to them and even manage them so that they don’t get the best of us. One way to do this is by managing our emotional triggers. An emotional trigger is anything that sets off a negative emotion in us. It might be a specific person, a situation, or even a memory. If we’re not careful, these triggers can lead to out-of-control emotions that can ruin our day or even our lives. Fortunately, there are things we can do to manage our emotional triggers. By being aware of what sets us off and learning how to deal with our emotions in a healthy way, we can take back control of our lives. If you’re struggling to deal with your emotions, consider seeking help from a mental health professional. They can help you identify your emotional triggers and learn how to deal with them in a healthy way.”

Client Anette S. says: “Nina has a tremendous capacity to tap into shapes and signs in order to deepen the messages she gets during healing. She enthusiastically translates those same messages in a way that vibrates and resonates with the client (me). It was a great experience!”

Top 10 Proven Clinical Benefits of Laser Therapy

1. Anti-Inflammation
Laser therapy dilates the blood vessels, which decreases blood pressure, as well as activates the lymphatic drainage system which drains swollen areas. As a result, there is a reduction in swelling caused by bruising or inflammation.

2. Anti-Pain
Laser therapy has a high beneficial effect on nerve cells which block pain transmitted by these cells to the brain and which decrease nerve sensitivity. Also, due to less inflammation, there is less edema and less pain.

3. Accelerated Tissue Repair  and Cell Growth
Photons of light from lasers penetrate deeply into tissue and accelerate cellular reproduction and growth. The laser light increases the energy available to the cell so that the cell can take on nutrients faster and get rid of waste products.

4. Trigger Points and Acupuncture Points
Laser therapy stimulates muscle trigger points and acupuncture points on a
non-invasive basis providing musculoskeletal pain relief.

5. Increased Metabolic Activity
Laser therapy creates higher outputs of specific enzymes, greater oxygen and food particle loads for blood cells.

6. Reduced Scar Tissue Formation
Laser Therapy reduces the formation of scar tissue following tissue damage from cuts, scratches, burns, or surgery.

7. Improved Vascular Activity
Laser light will significantly increase the formation of new capillaries in damaged tissue which speeds up the healing process, closes wounds quickly, and reduces scar tissue.

8. Improved Nerve Function
Slow recovery of nerve functions in damaged tissue can result in numbness and impaired limbs. Laser light will speed up the regeneration and econnection process and optimize muscle action.

9. Immunoregulation
Laser light has a direct effect on immunity status by stimulation of immunoglobulins and lymphocytes. Laser Therapy is absorbed by molecule enzymes that react to laser light. The enzyme flavomono-nucleotide is activated and starts the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the major carrier of cell energy and the energy source for all chemical reactions in the cells.

10. Faster Wound Healing
Laser light stimulates collagen production in damaged tissue. Collagen is the essential protein required to replace old tissue or to repair tissue injuries.

“Our FDA-cleared laser painlessly helps to reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation while stimulating cells to regenerate injured tissues,” the doctor said.

About Class IV Laser Therapy

Class IV laser therapy is used for the relief of pain, accelerating healing, and decreasing inflammation. When a light source is placed against the skin, photons penetrate several centimeters down and are absorbed by the mitochondria (the energy-producing part of a cell).

This energy results in the restoration of normal cell function. The main goal of laser therapy is to stimulate the cell to perform its natural functions but at an enhanced rate. This greatly speeds up the body’s natural healing process to repair the damaged tissues and produce more healthy cells.

In contrast to “cold lasers,” which provide no feeling or sensation, high-power diode laser therapy provides a warm, soothing feeling.

Dr. Bruce is the owner and founder of Recharge Sports Injury Center and the Herdon Pain Relief Center.  He graduated from Life University School of Chiropractic in 1999, where he was a member of the men’s Division I soccer team.
