How San Antonio Northwest LearningRx Is Helping (NISD) Northside Independent School District Students “Get Back On Track” During The Summer Break

Published

on

Here is what one of the top Industry’s leading experts is saying about the results that the San Antonio Northwest LearningRx is having on getting your student back on track this summer.

According to Dr. Amy Moore, for the last two school years, many students have signified the last day of school with the closing of their laptops. With students experiencing a mix of virtual learning, hybrid classrooms, and the like, it’s easy to see why parents are unsure how their students will adjust when they return to in-person learning in the fall.

Before the pandemic, there was the “Summer Slide”— a term coined to describe the loss of knowledge and ability that typically occurs when formal education stops during the summer months. “Educators have always seen learning losses over the summer, but with COVID-19 forcing many schools to move to virtual learning, losses were magnified,” explains Dr. Amy Moore, a cognitive psychologist with LearningRx. “This year, we expect the typical summer learning losses to be compounded by nearly a full school year of learning disruptions.”

“If ever a parent were to invest in their child or teen’s future, now is the time,” says Dr. Moore.

Here is what parents can do to best prepare their kids or teens to return to in-person learning this fall. According to Dr. Moore, although tutoring and summer classes can often help re-teach educational material, one-on-one brain training helps address the root cause of learning struggles: weak cognitive skills.

“Cognitive skills are the core skills our brains use to think, read, remember, reason, learn and pay attention,” explains Dr. Moore. “They include attention, working memory, processing speed, long-term memory, logic and reasoning, auditory processing, and visual processing. By strengthening these skills, students can improve their ability to learn and retain information the first time it is taught. “Think of cognitive skills as the tools that your student needs to complete a project at school,” explains Dr. Moore. “If they’re expected to build a birdhouse in shop class, but the saw is dull, they’ll struggle to cut the wood necessary for the birdhouse. But if you take time to sharpen the saw, it will be easier for the student to complete the birdhouse. If even one skill is weak, they may struggle with learning due to frustration. Investing in sharpened cognitive skills makes it easier to pay attention in class, complete homework, take timed tests, stay organized, and manage their time.”

As Dr. Moore points out, “LearningRx’s one-on-one brain training programs weren’t developed overnight. The company put in more than 35 years of trial-and-error research to develop a variety of programs. In recent years, the Gibson Institute’s cognitive training and assessment research has been published in peer-reviewed medical, psychology, and education journals and presented at conferences around the world. More than 101,000 clients have gone through our programs. We can back our programs with both scientific research and anecdotal feedback from clients and their families.”

Whether your student has been diagnosed with ADHD, dyslexia, struggles in school, or just wants to get a “leg up” on learning before the fall, LearningRx may be able to help them get back on track this summer. Start by scheduling a Brain Skills Assessment with LearningRx San Antonio Northwest or online at https://www.learningrx.com/about-us/our-testing/.

About LearningRx

LearningRx, headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is the world’s largest one-on-one brain training company. Their training programs are delivered through more than 200 locations in North America and in 48 countries around the globe (as BrainRx). LearningRx has helped more than 100,000 individuals and families sharpen their cognitive skills to help them think faster, learn easier, and perform better.

In addition to their in-Center training programs that partner every client with a personal brain trainer to keep clients engaged, accountable, and on-task—a key advantage over digital brain games—the company also offers online training through real-time videoconferencing.

This virtual delivery method allows clients to train from the comfort of their own home while still receiving the benefits of one-on-one brain training with a personal brain trainer. LearningRx’s pioneering methods have been used in clinical settings for over 35 years and have been subjected to peer-review in more than a dozen scientific journals.

How Northside Independent School District (NISD) students can benefit from going to LearningRx San Antonio Northwest during the summer break.

LearningRx San Antonio Northwest is owned and operated by Lynne and Whitney Meyer; it is a brain training center in Northwest San Antonio that helps adults and children with learning, reading, comprehension, and memory struggles. If you or a loved one struggles in work or school, their programs can be customized to fit your particular needs and give you the push needed to overcome learning barriers.

Lynne Meyer is a retired reading specialist and administrator for more than 25 years. Her biggest frustration was seeing students who struggled, no matter how much extra support they were given. She took it upon herself to learn about how the brain processed information and discovered that all the re-teaching she did would only make a small difference if a student has weak cognitive skills.

While her daughter, Whitney Meyer, was starting her M.A. in Educational Psychology, she discovered LearningRx cognitive training. She became a certified cognitive skills trainer for LearningRx in 2009 and has since helped hundreds of students and their families overcome learning struggles associated with ADHD, dyslexia, learning disabilities, and even traumatic brain injury.

San Antonio’s Northwest LearningRx programs are designed to eliminate the cause of an individual’s learning challenge(s) instead of accommodating or compensating for the symptoms. Unlike tutoring or computer-based programs that focus on academic content, LearningRx provides targeted cognitive training that improves the brain’s ability to process information. Their training attacks the root problem of learning difficulties by targeting the underlying cognitive skills required to pay attention, remember, and perform.

Aric M. Pryor, President, Quarion Technology, Inc., commented about Martin IP Law Group, “I started developing electronic technology products in 2006, and I used a large IP firm from a large city with a large bill rate. I used them for over three years and never actually met anyone face-to-face. When I switched to Rick Martin approximately seven years ago, I was instantly impressed. Rick immediately engaged and understood our technology and the areas of risk associated with our intellectual property. I am particularly impressed with Rick’s ability to understand technical concepts – he thinks like an engineer because he is one. I am also impressed with his knack for helping the average inventor or ‘techie’ understand the patent process as well as helping to manage the entire process. I have never had to worry about incomplete filings or missing a filing date, which allows me to focus on what I am good at doing. I would highly recommend Rick Martin for any patent, trademark, or other intellectual property legal needs.”

Police Law and Litigation Attorney Muna Busailah Examines The Realities of Defending Those Who Protect Others on Influencers Radio

Published

on

Public safety service men and women, first responders, police, fire fighters, paramedics and dispatchers have some of the toughest jobs… protecting the public. They are required to make split-second decisions that can have a lasting impact on not just the community they are committed to protect, but the lives of the people who are directly involved in sometimes, very volatile situations, as well as their own families and careers.  While the results of those decisions can cast them as heroes, there are times they find themselves vilified, especially in the court of public opinion.

On a recent episode of Influencers Radio with Jack Mize, attorney Muna Busailah, Managing Partner of the Stone Busailah law firm in Pasadena, California, discussed the special challenges, including the impact of media coverage, faced by Public Safety personnel when they find themselves involved in civil, criminal, and administrative matters.

During the interview, Busailah explained the unique advantage the Stone Busailah team of skilled lawyers provide as advocates for public safety employees in administrative disciplinary hearings, grievance arbitrations, and unfair practice charges, saying, “…the attorneys in our firm have either retired from the ranks of Sergeant up to Chief of Police that are members of our firm, including fire personnel that retired as Fire Chiefs. So with that perspective, they’re able to assist the lawyers who have not had that law enforcement experience, but more importantly, to connect and relate immediately to the client. Because they’ve been there. They’ve been involved in uses of force, they’ve been involved in shootings, they’ve been involved in investigations. They’ve had allegations brought against them, or they’ve been sued and ended up as defendants in court. They understand the ramifications of how allegations and investigations can flow and damage their careers. And I think it helps give the client more confidence and assurance that they’re going to be taken care of, because they’re being represented by people who understand what they’re going through, and are focused on making sure that the end result is to protect their careers. So they have a future to continue, or keep them out of criminal prosecutions”.

The interview concluded with Busailah saying, “We are truly proud to be able to represent the brave men and women who have joined this noble profession, and daily put their lives in danger for those of perfect strangers.”

As a police law and litigation specialist since 1993, Muna Busailah and the Stone Busailah law firm is on a mission to defend those who protect others by providing clients the best legal representation possible with integrity, skill and compassion.
