Nic McLeod discusses asset allocation.

Listen to the interview on the Business Innovators Radio Network:
https://businessinnovatorsradio.com/interview-with-nicolas-j-mcleod-wealth-preservation-specialist-discussing-asset-allocation-design-for-retirement/

Nicolas J. McLeod accentuates the importance of investing in safer and higher-yield tools in the current high-interest-rate environment. To prepare for potential market downturns, Nicolas suggests individuals should pay attention to the 60% of their investments that are exposed to volatility. He also mentions that major banks such as Morgan Stanley, Blackrock, and Goldman Sachs have started replacing bonds in their 60/40 portfolios with alternative tools that offer safer and higher yields. This strategy is significant as it not only mitigates risk but also smooths out volatility patterns, putting clients on a positive growth trajectory instead of a stagnant or negative one. The effectiveness of these alternative tools is demonstrated by their long-term use by major banks, pensions, endowments, and hospital systems to manage general account money. Overall, Nicolas’s message revolves around the importance of investing in safer and higher yield tools in the current high-interest rate environment to ensure financial stability and growth.

In this episode, Mike Saunders and Nicolas J. McLeod discuss the lengthening distribution phase of retirement due to people living longer and taking better care of themselves. They highlight that individuals are prioritizing their health, mentally, spiritually, and physically, engaging in more exercise and adopting better eating habits, leading to longer lifespans. They emphasize that the distribution phase of retirement is now longer compared to the past.

To address this, Nicolas explains implementing strategies in the asset allocation design to ensure clients do not outlive their money. He mentions his ability to anticipate the Federal Reserve’s interest rate increase six to seven months in advance, allowing him to plan ahead, mitigate risk, smooth out volatility patterns, and put clients on a positive growth trajectory. This approach is crucial in ensuring financial security throughout the extended distribution phase of retirement.

McLeod discusses his belief in taking an educational approach to financial advising, drawing from his own experiences and mistakes in the industry over the past 20 years. He acknowledges making poor choices in his youth and learning from those mistakes. Nicolas McLeod underlines that with age and wisdom comes failure, and it is important to learn from these failures to grow and improve.

Nicolas shared: “We at NJM Wealth Preservation have spent nearly 20 years listening, learning, and crafting a team of individuals with a vast array of experience and professional designations. This has allowed us to focus on our client’s goals, concerns, red flags, and comprehensive planning both fiscally as well as matter of the heart. Receiving our client’s lifetime of hard work and experience that has manifested as their retirement dollars is not something we take lightly! Careful attention to detail is key in this economic environment, swirling with uncertainty, to allow our clients to build their ideal portfolio, control their tax liabilities and provide peace and comfort long term.  We bridge the gap between the Accumulation and Distribution phase planning. We simply take over where most firms lack the knowledge to begin.  Allowing our clients’ portfolios to last as long as they do and into the next generations with confidence.”

About Nic McLeod

Nicolas (Nic) J. McLeod is a man of determination and grit.  No matter if he’s spending time with his wife and kids, creating music, honing his body-building skills, or helping the many families he now calls “friends” find the best ways for them to preserve their wealth and build their retirement savings—he brings a high level of intensity and passion to whatever he’s doing in any given moment.

Nic is a second-generation Wealth Preservation specialist. He grew up watching his dad help families in the community with their financial needs. It impacted him at an early age, and it has now been over forty years since his father first started his practice in 1982. In 2005, Nic decided to launch his firm and now has helped nearly 1000 families spread across the nation who have entrusted him with their financial well-being. Nic’s client base is diverse in both their professional backgrounds & financial needs. No matter who he is working with, his number one job is to protect and preserve their wealth and retirement savings.

Nic proudly owns a record free of any consumer complaints. This is a direct result of the core values at McLeod Consulting Group. As Nic says, “As fiduciaries, our job is to foster a relationship of trust, both legally and ethically. This is what drives us, so our client’s best interests are always first. But we take it to the next level and make sure that all of the work we do is transparent to both our clients and the financial companies we work with. Many of our clients have become like family, and we could not be more thankful for them. We look forward to inviting you to experience how our team can help you successfully navigate the years leading up to your retirement as well as continue to prosper financially, emotionally, and spiritually throughout your retirement years.”

Nic’s relationship with God and his family is at his core. “My daily goal is to be a humble servant. This is what gives me my moral compass and keeps it all together.” Nic’s cherished soulmate is his lovely wife Shayda. Theirs is a true love story, and they bring the same core values to their marriage that they do to all their work.  Nic and Shayda have two young and wonderful children who are very active in their school and sports—following in their father’s footsteps. While the couple spends weekdays working hard to ensure their clients remain financially secure, weekends are packed with sporting events and other family activities.

“Giving me all can make me vulnerable. I care deeply about my clients,” Nic says adamantly.

“It goes far beyond just ‘being about the money.’  Money isn’t what makes the world go ‘round. It’s our relationships and our health, and I find when you give everything you got, that vulnerability can leave you exposed—to the good, the bad, and the ugly. But I’ll take it all if it means that together we create success for you.”

Nic can add “gifted athlete” and “seasoned musician,” to his list of accomplishments. He was a highly touted D1 football prospect, but his aspirations were cut short due to a severe foot injury. He was determined to continue being part of the sport’s world becoming a top bodybuilder, consulting for the University of Arkansas strength coaches, but his passion is helping troubled adolescents and underprivileged youth in his community.  As a musician, he has successfully recorded LPs, enjoying quick success on local and national radio as well as sold-out shows in the largest and most well-known regional venues.  He studied at the prestigious Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, majoring in Lead Guitar Theory and single-string improv. Music continues to be a major player in his life, as he plays and composes music for his family and personal enjoyment.

Nic’s commitment to making people better and more able at whatever they choose permeates all his work—from volunteering with his community to helping individuals and families secure and preserve their wealth

Yoseph Assefa, Loan Officer with American Financing, Interviewed on the Elite Real Estate Leaders Podcast

Published on October 2, 2023

Yoseph Assefa discusses navigating the mortgage industry.

Listen to the interview on the Business Innovators Radio Network: https://businessinnovatorsradio.com/interview-with-yoseph-assefa-loan-officer-with-american-financing/

Yoseph Assefa grew up in a family that prioritized advancement and security, even beyond their careers in education. This upbringing influenced Yoseph, leading him to pursue various entrepreneurial endeavors after college. Yoseph indicates his involvement in multiple industries, highlighting his background in entrepreneurship.

During this episode, Yoseph Assefa emphasizes the significance of trust and relationships in the mortgage and real estate business. He mentions that all his previous connections were built on trust and respect, which allowed his network to perceive him differently and provide opportunities to assist with real estate decisions. Yoseph Assefa acknowledges the challenges faced by the mortgage industry, particularly in the past 12 to 18 months.

The importance of educating clients and ensuring their understanding of the mortgage process is discussed. Yoseph Assefa emphasizes that a mortgage can have a detrimental impact on someone’s financial future if not handled correctly, referring to it as a “death grip.” He believes in taking a special approach to educate and guide clients toward making informed decisions to avoid such consequences. This approach is emphasized as crucial from the initial meeting or the closing table.

Yoseph Assefa also highlights the significance of providing accurate and trustworthy information to the community. He acknowledges the overwhelming amount of information available and stresses the need for clients to have someone they can trust for reliable advice and guidance. Assefa believes that the mortgage industry is complex, especially for newcomers, and clients require straightforward answers that are not influenced by personal interests.

Furthermore, Yoseph Assefa discusses the benefits of building long-term relationships and prioritizing the client’s comfort level, not only for the customer but also for real estate agents. Providing a clear monthly payment range, helps agents understand the client’s budget and prevents exceeding it during the home-buying process. This open communication and transparency with agents contribute to a smoother experience for all parties involved.

Yoseph shared: One of the current challenges that we’re facing in addition to historically high interest rates, is misinformation. A lot of people either don’t make the right decision or don’t make a decision at all because of bad information they’re receiving from the internet. It’s probably those short clips online that don’t give you the context of what they’re talking about. There’s just so much bad information out there.”

About Yoseph Assefa

Yoseph is an accomplished Mortgage Consultant with a passion for guiding home buyers to navigate the mortgage industry and process. With a career spanning eight years, he has established himself as a recognized authority in the field, known for his expertise in first-time homeownership and exceptional leadership.

Frank Tobin, Executive Chairman of GomSpace North America, Discusses Partnering for Faster and More Assured Mission Success on The Space Industry Podcast

Published on September 29, 2023

Low Earth Orbit (LEO) is becoming an increasingly difficult place to do business. In his recent appearance on The Space Industry Podcast, Frank Tobin, Executive Chairman of GomSpace North America, shares his belief that the fastest path to a successful LEO satellite deployment in this competitive environment is through collaboration.

A new race to space is happening right above our heads. But the destinations targeted today are not the Moon or Mars. Instead, entrepreneurs, nation states, and large corporations are sending small satellites into Low Earth Orbit (100 to 1,000 miles altitude) to track weather, provide broadband Internet access and telecommunications, support the Internet of Things (IoT), and perform military and security functions.

With so many potential LEO opportunities available, a gold rush mentality has driven scores of entrepreneurs and hundreds of millions of dollars of capital into the sector in recent years. Now, as the market begins to mature, investors are becoming more focused on rapid paths to profitability and less upon innovative technologies.

“The capital markets are no longer interested in funding science projects,” stated Frank Tobin, Executive Chairman of GomSpace North America on The Space Industry Podcast. “They are looking for business models that can be ramped up quickly and achieve cash flow positive status in a reasonable period of time.”

“This is why it’s critical that every company or agency planning a satellite mission focuses on their core technological competencies,” Tobin continues, “And outsources to flight-proven partners the nuts and bolts of building, launching, and managing one – or a constellation of – satellites. The sooner you can demonstrate in-orbit experience, the less equity you will have to give up in exchange for capital. Partnering accelerates that process.”

Listen to the interview:
Frank Tobin’s appearance on The Space Industry Podcast is the first in a series of such interviews he will be granting in the coming weeks and months to communicate his message of the power of partnering in space.
